Good morning colleagues,
This is a relatively short update because I will be in China until Thursday visiting universities in Wuhan and Beijing.
I have a couple of meetings, including a meeting with the Zilber School of Public Health on Biostatistics. In the afternoon, I have a meeting with the School of Continuing Education.
From the Learning Technology Center
-If you are interested in driving down the cost of textbooks or providing a richer learning experience for your students, you should attend a meeting today at 11:30 a.m. that is organized by the Learning Technology Center (LTC). A sneak preview of Ginkgotree’s new features will be presented. We have been piloting Ginkgotree, a web-based application integrated with Desire2Learn (D2L) that instructors can use to curate digital content, including open education resources (OER). Registration is required, and lunch will be provided. Visit http://tinyurl.com/uwmginkgo for more information.
Research Recognition Awards
-We are pleased to solicit nominations for the 2014 UWM Research Recognition Awards, previously administered by the Graduate School. This year we will present the Office of Research/UWM Foundation Research Awards, for junior faculty, and the UWM Research Foundation Senior Faculty Awards, for full or Wisconsin Distinguished Professors. We encourage departments/programs to nominate a faculty member for an award. In addition to honoring outstanding researchers, these awards recognize our collective commitment to academic research and to UWM’s research mission. Nomination deadline is Friday, March 7.
